The solution basically edits the Sprite-Lit-Default script so that it takes into account the luminosity of the object, basically how much light is hitting the sprite. Just use a lit shader for the new pipelines, set it to Opaque, then change it to your custom shader. e.g. set it to Lit (universal Render Pipeline/Lit)
